Hello World!
As with any new endeavour began by a coder this blog is being kicked off with the all time classic hello world example. It also serves as some handy placeholder text for me while I work on the display templates. For those who cannot wait for me to finish poring over my front-end code hop on over to the main body of this post to read a basic introduction to the bloke “they” call HatBeard.
Show me more of these words that you wroteHello, well I guess if you’re reading this I’ve gotten around to adding a ‘continue reading’ link of some description, at the time of writing this post I was intending to make the link text mildly amusing/quirky so I hope that as you sit here reading this you are still feeling the mild glow of enjoyment brought about by the act of clicking on it as it slowly ebbs away and you begin to wonder when I’m going to shut up about as-of-yet non-existant links and move onto the personal introduction that was promised in the introductory portion of this blog post. Well wonder no more, here it comes, wheeeee!
I (HatBeard) am a Man. A man with many hats. A man with many hats and a beard. A man with many hats and a beard who likes to write code.
I am rapidly approaching my first encounter with old age (30) but I hope to overcome it after a few years and get some kind of youth-related second wind until I’m at least 40 (after which I will be so old I’ll probably just turn to dust or something).
Following an unfortunate incident that saw my father suffering a mild stroke I have been polarised from being an unfit, overweight (but still incredibly sexy) slob into a slim, trim, healthy eating, fitness machine who likes to slap his feet up and down on pavements in a repetitive motion that vaguely resembles running. I have also become a terrible diet and exercise bore much to my friends chagrin.
I’m finally getting around to pulling this blog together as I just began a new job working as a developer for a company that appears to be pretty switched on when it comes to treating their developers properly by letting them spend most of their time getting their hands dirty writing actual real life honest to goodness code. No covering the understaffed support desk every week or any other such nonsense, nosiree, the developers get to develop and the novelty of this fact has put my enthusiasm for coding back at almost peak levels. As a result I am keen to get the blog up and running so that I have a place to collect my thoughts and any useful bits of code I may come up with. I’m also due to attend the Flash on the Beach conference in a few weeks which if it is anything like last years event will see me return with renewed interest and excitement about using tools like Processing, Actionscript 3.0 and Open Frameworks to write some more ‘expressive’ code such as Generative art pieces and the likes.
Also as part of my duties as an Adobe User Group Manager I intend to expand my involvement in the UK ColdFusion community and begin giving presentations and talks to my user group on a wide variety of related subjects all of which will be collected here for reference.
